Getting Started with Retro3D Toolkit (Curvemesher)

Welcome to the Retro3D Toolkit! This guide is designed to help you through the process of installing the Retro3D Toolkit addon in Blender, even if you have no prior experience with Blender or installing addons. Follow these step-by-step instructions to get started.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  • Blender installed on your computer. If you don't have Blender, download it from the official Blender website. We currently support versions 4.0 and higher.
  • Retro3D Toolkit addon file. This should be a .zip file provided by the marketplace you obtained it from.
  • Note: To ensure that we provide the best possible support to our community members, our live support is reserved for those who have confirmed their support by simply sending a DM to the admin in our discord of an invoice number.

Step 1: Open Blender

Launch Blender on your computer. You will be greeted with the default startup screen.

Step 2: Access Preferences

Navigate to Edit > Preferences. This will open the Blender Preferences window. You can also click "Edit" followed by "P" for quick access.

Step 3: Install the Addon

  1. In the Preferences window, click on the Add-ons tab located on the left side.
  2. Click the Install button at the top right of the window.
  3. In the file browser that opens, navigate to the location of your downloaded Retro3D Toolkit.zip file.
  4. Select the .zip file and click Install Add-on.

Step 4: Enable the Addon

After installation, you need to enable the addon:

  1. In the Add-ons tab, there's a search box at the top. Type Retro3D Toolkit to find the addon quickly.
  2. You should see the Retro3D Toolkit addon listed. Check the box next to the addon name to enable it.
  3. Optionally, click on the Save Preferences button at the bottom left to automatically enable the addon every time you open Blender.
  4. Blender uses a dynamic searching system so even short hand typing "Ret" should pull up the relevant information.

Step 5: Verify the Installation

To confirm that the Retro3D Toolkit addon has been installed and activated:

  1. Close the Preferences window.
  2. Navigate to the 3D Viewport. You should now have access to Retro3D Toolkit features. Depending on the addon, this could mean new panels, tools, or menu options specific to Retro3D Toolkit.
  3. Note: It's honestly good practice to restart blender entirely after any addon installation, not just this one. Highly recommended to do so. Prior to tutorials!
